With Hurricane season right around the corner here is a recommendation to all property owners. Once a year, take a video camera and slowly go through your home or condo to record everything. Once completed put the video in a safe deposit box or another very safe place away from the property.

After a catastrophic event is not the time to attempt to re-create what items were damaged or destroyed. You will be much more successful dealing with a claim in this manner.

Flood Insurance:

Our entire state is a Flood Zone. There are particular areas that require Flood Insurance. There are others where coverage is not required but those areas are still Flood Zones. We recommend all property owners purchase this valuable coverage. If in a required zone you probably have this coverage already. If not you are entitled to a lower preferred rate. In either case, now is a good time to review your insurance coverage.
